Agnes Su is a fourteen year old songwriter, multi instrumentalist, and aspiring Folklorist, living in northern Michigan. She began her career in music when she was five years old by studying and performing with the Grand Rapids Strings Academy, and after that she was invited to play traditional music with the Michigan band HAMMER’d. Agnes has played with them since she was eleven years old.

Agnes Su has also worked with Hawks and Owls string band, and Major Murphy. Over the past year, she has shifted her focus to writing her own songs with the guitar. Some of her musical inspirations are:

Joni Mitchell, Emmylou Harris, Lucinda Williams, and Nanci Griffith. She also loves old country.

Agnes Su is currently putting together her first collection of songs to record later this year. When Agnes is not playing music you will likely find her reading, engaged in traditional crafts, sharing stories with friends, tending flowers in her garden, or sharing her love of music history on the Folk Aire program of her local college radio station where she has been working as a DJ since age thirteen.
